These canvas and print collages began with the Macclesfield Stripe but evolved to represent the rolling landscape of the Macclesfield hills. They reference the water powered looms of the Industrial Revolution, managed by a determined and highly skilled female workforce. These mixed media collages were born of the heritage and legacy of silk design and manufacture in Macclesfield.
